What drew Konkona to ACP Sanyukta was not just the thrill of playing a layered investigator but the way the character echoed one of television’s earliest complex female detectives from the Danish series Forbrydelsen.

Speaking about the same, Konkona said, “Actually, what really drew me to the part was the character itself. It’s based on the Danish show Forbrydelsen, which I had seen, and it was one of the earliest shows with a complex female detective character. There have been others since, but this was among the first, and it’s such a beautifully done portrait. I loved the complexity of the role she was dealing with at home in her personal life and in her professional life. I’ve always been drawn to such characters – real, layered, strong, yet relatable because of their struggles. So, when I was offered this part, combined with the fact that it came from a show I had really loved, and was now being adapted in an Indian context, I knew I wanted to be part of it.”

Beyond the adaptation itself, Konkona shared a deep personal resonance with ACP Sanyukta. For her, this isn’t just a character—it’s a reflection of the lives of countless working women. She believes Sanyukta’s story will echo with them as an ode to their struggles, resilience, and relentless balancing act. She said, “I think for working women, they’ll really see that they’re not alone. This is something that happens to almost all working women whether they work outside the house or are homemakers, because managing work at home is not easy either. But when you’re working outside, especially in a demanding job like an ACP, it’s a very tough balance to achieve.”

She added, “Even Sanyukta Das isn’t managing it perfectly. I think working women will relate to these struggles and see that nobody has it perfectly figured out. Sometimes we fail, sometimes we succeed; it’s a balance we’re constantly striving for. So, I think it’ll make the show very relatable for working women, and hopefully it’ll take some pressure off them, so they’ll feel seen, understood, and less alone.”

With Konkona leading the charge, this series is one of JioHotstar’s most awaited thrillers of the year.
